Researchers believe there may be two undiscovered moons around Uranus. Examining data provided by the Voyager 2 spacecraft they noticed that material in two of Uranus’s rings varied occasionally, suggesting there is an object there influencing it. They also compared this to the data obtained on Saturn’s rings which seem to be comparable in ring behavior. They also think that the moons are smaller compared to the other moons around the gas giant and which explains why Uranus has narrow rings compared to Saturn. They act as collectors; gathering the strewn rocks, ice and general dust floating about. A future mission will have to be launched to directly image the rings which could also be used for other scientific pursuits. If true it will be a wonderful addition to the celestial objects already orbiting the sun we all share.
