With the success of the film Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel is keen to release a swift follow-up to capitalize on the return of the web slinging hero to big screen fame. One of the ideas for the sequels, stated before the first film dropped mind you, was to have each film be another year in high school for Peter. I think it’s a good idea based on the fact that Spider-Man is supposed to be a high school superhero that has to grow up with it.
After the popularity of the trailer online Marvel decided to announce a sequel on July 5, 2019. Most of the people who worked on Homecoming are returning for the sequel including the director and screenwriters. The movie is also looking for a new villain. It’ll be interesting to see how the movie moves forward because it will come out after the second part of the upcoming Marvel: Infinity Wars. This will see the spider fight Thanos (presumably) in a new outfit in NYC and the movie will likely follow the aftermath.
Spider-Man’s production schedule has now been announced. It will begin on May 19th and proceed until September. Filming will take place throughout New York, London, Venice and Prague featuring Spidey’s junior year. Maybe we’ll see him in college one day.
